Did you know that 36% of the estimated 1.7 million Canadians of those turning to food banks in 2013 were children and youth?
Now, as we prepare to head back to school and we are thinking about school lunches, we need to think about those families who don't have enough food to make meals before, during or after school. momstown.ca happily jumped on board with Quaker Canada for their Chewy for Charity program to help those in need. Quaker Chewy is the leading family-oriented granola bar and made right here in Peterborough Ontario!
Families all over Kitchener-Waterloo found momstown Kitchener-Waterloo at Waterloo Park for our Art & Play program, set up with lots of loaded goody bags, free granola bars and water, plus pet rocks to paint and Canadian inspired canvas painting with oats for #chewyforcharity.
For every piece of art received, Quaker Chewy is donating the equivalent of 10 lbs of food to the Food Banks Canada!
Moms loved the motivation for this great event, the idea of helping other families in need just by simply creating some fun and messy artwork. The kids loved Granola bar Parachute Play, bubbles, getting messy, grabbing some Aquafina Water, a few Quaker Granola Bars, all while getting artistic and crafty. Did you know that every Quaker Chewy Bar is made with 10 grams of Canadian whole grain oats?
Here are some of the Canvas paintings created by the kids, and even a mom too… When you upload your pictures of your artwork to ChewyforCharity.ca, you can even have the artwork printed on their very own customized lunch bag! For even more great photos from this event, check out our Quaker album on Facebook.
As always, we love support our community, and helping in any way that we can. We loved partnering with Quaker Chewy for this great program to help those less fortunate than us.
